Join Martha I. Silva, CNMT, RDMS, NMTCB(CT), as she presents “Seeing Beyond the Console

Martha Silva is a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with over 10 years of clinical experience, including roles as a Clinical Coordinator and PET/Oncology Supervisor. She holds a certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, a bachelor’s degree in Imaging Sciences specializing in CT, and has previously presented for the Society of Nuclear Medicine.

She currently teaches Cross-Sectional Anatomy at a community college and works as a Medical Physics Assistant, where she continues to contribute to patient care behind the scenes through imaging quality and physics support.

Her diverse experience across clinical practice, education, and medical physics has strengthened her understanding of medical imaging and reinforced her commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, and patient-centered care.

Date: Thursday, September 3, 2026
Time: 3:00pm – 4:00pm EDT

In this session, Martha will help you to:

  • Describe the complementary roles of nuclear medicine technologists, medical physicists, biomed/clinical engineering, manufacturers, and radiation safety personnel in supporting image quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify practical opportunities for collaboration—including protocol optimization, artifact recognition and troubleshooting, equipment performance monitoring, and implementation of new radiopharmaceuticals—whether or not in-house physics support is available.
  • Apply proactive communication strategies such as shared documentation, interdisciplinary feedback loops, and routine technical review to improve workflow efficiency and diagnostic confidence.
  • Discuss how technical curiosity, professional resourcefulness, and cross-disciplinary engagement can support career development, leadership growth, and expanded professional roles within nuclear medicine.
