June 5, 2026 – Five years after its inception, SOFIE’s FAP symposium continues to bring together researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders interested in the evolution of FAP and the buzz surrounding theranostics.  The session, titled “FAP in Focus – Oncology and Horizons Beyond Cancer”, was held on Sunday, May 31, as part of the SNMMI annual meeting in Los Angeles, CA.

SOFIE’s Chief Scientific Officer, Sherly Mosessian, PhD, began with a brief overview of FAP targeting and clinical development, focusing on SOFIE’s Phase 3 studies, FAPI-GO (NCT07217704) and FAPI-PRO (NCT07217717). The next two speakers, Gary Ulaner, MD, PhD (HOAG) and Omar Partida (RadNet), shared their physician and technologist perspectives, respectively, on these two studies.  The first FAPI-GO (gastroesophageal cancers) patient was dosed at RadNet, in partnership with Helios Clinical and The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation, while the inaugural FAPI-PRO (Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma) patient was dosed at HOAG.

The agenda then turned to non-oncology with Sanjay K. Jain, MD, an infectious disease expert from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, presenting on FAPI-PET in fibrosis. FAP therapeutic directions were further explored by Darshan Dalal, MD, PhD (Actithera) and Jessica Jensen (Eli Lilly).

A fun and interactive “Theranostics Timeout” had the audience predicting via live poll both the timeline and indication for approval of the first FAP-targeting diagnostic and therapeutic and flexing their creative muscles to come up with a name for either.

Lastly, Andrew Scott, MBBS (Hons), MD, FRACP, FAHMS, FAICD, FAANMS, FSNMMI (Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute) engaged the session speakers, joined by Elcin Zan, MD, (Cleveland Clinic) on a diverse panel about the broader FAP landscape.

“This symposium is a powerful reminder of the pace of development in the FAP space”, said Patrick Phelps, CEO, Co-Founder and President of SOFIE.  “To think that just a year ago, in this same forum, we were naming our Phase 3 diagnostic clinical trials that today are actively enrolling and dosing patients is something we are very proud of. We want to continue to build on the rapid advances in FAP and the collaborative opportunities ahead.”

SOFIE is grateful to our esteemed speakers and panelists, and all who attended our session.  The video recording of the symposium will soon be available on our website.
